Jumong star Song Il-kook headlines this three-part period drama produced for Korean television, and set during the Japanese occupation of Korea. In-hee (Jang Shin-Young) is on the run from an arranged marriage when she crosses paths with handsome musician Gi-hyun (Il-kook). Their friendship blossoming into love over the course of the next few years, In-hee lands a job in radio while Gi-hyun finds success as a saxophone player. When Gi-hyun discovers In-hee's boss Young-jin (Lee Jung-Gill) - a Korean national whose loyalties reside with the Japanese - is the same man who previously killed his wife and escaped prosecution, he is shipped to Japan to labor in the coal mines. Years later, Japan is defeated and a vengeful Gi-hyun returns to Korea to discover his home country is a much different place than it was before the war. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

Some Trailer For Oasis

Oasis
New Review For Movie Oasis
A loving and lovely film.
Philip Wuntch-Dallas Morning News

A brave film in the way it shows two people who find any relationship almost impossible, and yet find a way to make theirs work.
Roger Ebert-Chicago Sun-Times

The actors' scenes together are simultaneously abrasive and oddly gentle: two untamable people trying to stabilize each other.
Wesley Morris-Boston Globe

Perhaps the most harrowing screen romance ever.
Roger Moore-Orlando Sentinel

Lee's humanitarian plea for tolerance is one of the most original films of the decade, and Moon provides the soul.
G. Allen Johnson-San Francisco Chronicle

A love story of two young people marginalized by family and society that becomes a scorching indictment of the indifference, cruelty and hypocrisy of those institutions as the couple inevitably come into profound conflict with them.
Kevin Thomas-Los Angeles Times

a touching, if uncomfortable, depiction of conservative Korean society as the danger from which misfits sometimes need protection (rather than the other way round).
Anton Bitel-Little White Lies

a subversive slice of Seoul life that's both funny and heartbreaking
Don Willmott-Filmcritic.com

Makes you pay a dear price before getting to the sublime beauty of such a disturbing film.
Dennis Schwartz-Ozus' World Movie Reviews

It has some rough spots - but the more you think about this movie, the more you care about these characters.
Cherryl Dawson and Leigh Ann Palone-TheMovieChicks.com

Its honesty and avoidance of comfortable closure make it a refreshing change from the sort of phony uplift such stories ordinarily receive on the screen.
Frank Swietek-One Guy's Opinion

Oasis is the kind of film that is a must for any serious film buff...and the adventurous movie-goer who isn't afraid of a little challenge.
Robin Clifford-Reeling Reviews

There's always a danger when lead roles are disabled characters to make them too sympathetic. A deft touch is required, and Lee delivers.
Matt Kelemen-Las Vegas CityLife

A dark, off-putting film that offers spare insights but may not be worth the effort it takes to view it.
Josh Bell-Las Vegas Weekly

It sounds like a pervy after-school special, but Oasis features one of the year's most remarkable performances.
Chris Hewitt (St. Paul)-St. Paul Pioneer Press

A fascinating piece of work.
Steve Schneider-Orlando Weekly

A markedly different kind of movie.
Kim Williamson-Boxoffice Magazine

Both leads make the romance convincing, and Jong-Du even becomes sympathetic despite being almost insufferably thick-headed.
Luke Y. Thompson-Los Angeles CityBeat

This is a film that gives humanism back its good name.
John Powers-L.A. Weekly
